The facade has different functions in every building. The facade designer ensures that the outer shell of the building fulfils all aesthetic and functional tasks.

 

What tasks does the facade designer perform?

The facade designer ensures that energy losses can be minimised. In addition, he plans the façade in such a way that it meets the high requirements for sound insulation, fire protection and burglar resistance. The facade designer must comply with a large number of standards and regulations. He is a competent contact for many trades involved in construction.

 

Who can work as a facade designer?

There is no specific training for a facade designer in Germany. They should either have completed a degree as an engineer or architect or have successfully completed an apprenticeship as a design engineer. The facade designer must be able to demonstrate in-depth specialist knowledge in the construction industry.
