A structural engineer is responsible for ensuring that a building is safely constructed and prepared for daily environmental influences.

 

What are the tasks of a structural engineer?

The structural engineer calculates the safety and load-bearing capacity of buildings. He checks which forces act on the respective components and how these must be designed so that they retain their statics. For his work, the structural engineer uses both computational and graphical methods to check the effect of external loads on buildings. Ultimately, the structural engineer is responsible for ensuring structural safety and serviceability.

 

When is a structural engineer used?

It is imperative that a structural engineer be involved in every new building and in extensive renovation work. He is commissioned by building owners, construction companies or architects.
